Expect the Unexpected

Bit of an anniversary for me this month as it's 6yrs since I first picked up a barbell. So, when my last warmup of a 170kg deadlift felt fast today, I decided to throw on another 30kg and broke the 200kg (31.5st/441lbs) mark for the first time!

Had hoped to attempt this 8wks ago, but tweaked my back at the time, so was building up for another attempt in a couple of months from now - totally unexpected, but absolutely buzzing right now!

Some days, yeah I'm really up for training. Others, I dread the thought of it. Most days I'm an bit ambivalent, and want to get it over so I can get on with my day. But, I always turn up - 3 or 4 times a week for the last 6yrs. First ever deadlift was just 40kg (middle picture with the noodle arms) - kept chipping away, bit by bit - when days like these come around, time to celebrate!
